I would like to share with you an experience I just had while in prep for my bodybuilding competition.
Three weeks before my show I went on vacation to Puerto Rico. Most people would say, "what possessed you to do that while in prep," but here is where commitment, dedication, and perseverance came into play.
The first thing I did was contact the hotel to make sure my room would have a microwave available for me. Second I asked if they had a fitness center. Once those two very important things were confirmed I proceeded to map out a plan.
I went on Amazon and ordered an insulated, leak proof backpack. The day before my departure I prepped all of my meals for the amount of days I would be staying. I went as far as to bring my own Almond milk, a small bag of protein powder, and all of my supplements. I froze three water bottles and ice packs, and I put everything into a suitcase. When I arrived at the airport that was the suitcase I was checking.
Once I arrived at the hotel in Puerto Rico everything was super cold and items intact. My plan worked!
Every morning I would get up at 7:30 a.m. and start my normal routine just as if I were home. I would take my supplements, protein drink and head to the fitness center and follow my workout program. I would do this every morning without fail and before doing any excursions.
To my surprise I can say I was the most focused because I didn't have the distractions of home life, work, commuting, etc. It was just me and my goals!
Although I was on vacation I did not allow that to interfere with my plan, but most importantly I did not want to disappoint myself or my coach.
I hope my experience can serve as a life lesson to someone. never let a situation or a circumstance get in the way of your goals and dreams.
